Design Challenge
Most people do not understand the significance of a typeface. This lack of education can lead to a misinformed consumer who may be fooled by graphic design techniques. Without understanding graphic design typefaces and the psychological principles behind typefaces, the viewer may misconstrue the intent of the designer.
Solution
Researching typography history, typography styles, poets that applied typefaces, and typography developers, a compilation focusing on the Futura typeface was developed. Utilizing Adobe InDesign to organize type hierarchy structures, this compilation was created for publication. Each color and design were researched to demonstrate how Futura can showcase different personalities.
Project Outcome
This predicted outcome of the Futura type specimen book is a compelling narrative that underscored Futura’s enduring legacy. Presenting the psychology behind the Futura typeface, the viewer will gain a better understanding and connection to materials presented in the typeface. Viewers will also take away a sneak-peak of a graphic designer’s process through the history of the typeface.
