The World of Baseballs
2021 Scholastics Art and Writing Gold Key Winner, Fairfax County
In 2020, Major League Baseball limited its season to sixty games with zero fans. COVID-19 affected the way how fans and players interacted with the game in 2020. Because of the pandemic, the baseball world had to adapt to lower income and different norms. This artwork was made to address the COVID-19 baseball. Originally, this artwork was created for experimentation in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator before the pandemic.
Baseballs and a vector self-portrait were added to reflect a self-personality for my love of baseball. This artwork’s outcome sold an interest to become an artist in the future. “The World of Baseballs” had people recognize the potentiality of an artist who could tell stories through stunning visuals. In the end, people who did not know about this artistic talent appreciated the meaning behind this artwork during a time of different social norms.

Honorable Cubism
2021 Scholastics Art and Writing Silver Key Winner, Fairfax County
In 2020, Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away. She inspired so many people with her seat on the Supreme Court. It was her decisions and presence in court cases that drove her to success as a justice. In Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, “Honorable Cubism” was made to honor her legacy as a justice. This artwork was made through cubist, Hockney, and Picasso-style techniques to create a conceptual concept of Ginsburg’s portrait.
Adding random, unrelated colors were intentional to engage viewers who do not connect with Ginsburg. “Honorable Cubism” inspired a new interest to become a career digital artist. People who observed the award were awes trucked by the messaging provided by the artwork. Those who did and did not know about Ginsburg’s passing had a greater appreciation of her after viewing this artwork.
